ERAP funds now expanded to middle-income renters

Michael Littman, Partner

Governor Kathy Hochul has now expanded the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) to middle-income renters previously ineligible for rental assistance.

Renters who make between 80% and 120% of the Area Median Income (AMI) are now eligible for rental assistance through a new, New York State allocated $125 million pot.

You should contact your tenants who were previously not eligible and may be currently eligible to apply.

The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) continues to accept and process applications for ERAP.  OTDA has announced that funds are being committed at a very fast rate and rent relief funds could be completely depleted within weeks.  ACT FAST!
